Sustainability & ESG Desk
Bringing our ESG experts together to better serve our clients.
Environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainability are of ever-growing importance to our clients. To support them in mastering the related challenges, we have created a Sustainability & ESG Desk: it brings our experts together and combines their broad expertise in this field, for the benefit of our clients. We are convinced that the key to seizing the opportunities and mitigating the risks of our clients’ ESG and sustainability performance lies in an interdisciplinary approach and the collaboration of specialists from different fields.
Our Expertise
The Sustainability & ESG Desk is headed by Prof. Dr. Isabelle Romy (Head), Prof. Dr. Jean-Luc Chenaux (Co-Head), and Prof. Dr. Henry Peter (Co-Head). This interdisciplinary co-leadership allows us to draw on decades of experience in environmental, social, and sustainable management. We are also anchored in all regions of Switzerland, meaning we are able to advise our clients in the best way possible.
Kellerhals Carrard has committed itself to a sustainable business model by taking the innovative step of creating a cooperative umbrella structure with the purpose of sustainable entrepreneurship.
Environmental
Prof. Dr. Isabelle Romy is a renowed environment lawyer. Her experience includes advising on a large array of environmental legal issues with a strong focus on contaminated land and groundwater pollution. She represents clients in environmental regulatory, administrative, and civil proceedings. Her experience as a board member of global companies has provided her deep insights into the governance issues around mastering the opportunities and challenges of ESG topics for businesses.
Social
Prof. Dr. Henry Peter launched the «Philanthropy Series» at the University of Geneva and thus laid the foundation for the «Geneva Centre for Philanthropy», which he founded in 2017 and currently heads. He is one of the most prominent experts on corporate social responsibility and social entrepreneurship in Switzerland. Henry Peter sits on various boards of directors, among which the board of a leading Swiss private bank "B-Corp" certified.
Governance
Prof. Dr. Jean-Luc Chenaux is a leading governance expert in Switzerland in the field of cooperative governance, among others, and has extensive experience serving as a member of boards of directors and boards of trustees.
Our approach to sustainability
We use our expertise to help our clients seize the opportunities and mitigate the risks associated with these developments. We are guided by our values: substance over form, pragmatism and specialisation.
