Change at the helm of Kellerhals Carrard

The partners of Kellerhals Carrard, the ‘yellow law firm’, have elected Edgar Philippin as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Partner at their Annual General Assembly.
Prof. Dr Edgar Philippin is a partner at Kellerhals Carrard’s Lausanne office. He advises on matters including company and contract law, as well as M&A transactions, which he also teaches as a professor at the University of Lausanne. He is also an arbitrator and serves on various foundations and boards of directors.
“I cannot imagine a better successor than Edgar Philippin. He will carry on the KC spirit and our values, particularly in the age of AI,” says the outgoing Beat Brechbühl. And Philippin: “I am happy to take up the baton and look forward to this role. Our ambition for 2030 is: people at the centre, with employee and client satisfaction as our top priority.”
The handover took place as part of KC’s 20th anniversary celebrations — marking the start of a journey unique in Switzerland, from a regional law firm to what is now the country’s largest law firm, with over 360 practising lawyers and a total of more than 630 staff across nine locations in Switzerland. As the only law firm operating on a cooperative model, its articles of association stipulate a commitment to sustainable entrepreneurship and civil society, and enshrine humour in its values.
Brechbühl was honoured as the visionary, initiator and driving force behind this journey. The Federal Council’s address was delivered by President of the Confed-eration Guy Parmelin. A high-profile panel discussed the future of the service professions.
During the statutory part of the meeting, Dr Bernd Hauck and Jean-Christophe Hocke were elected to replace the retiring board members Dr Marco Balmelli (BS) and Clarence Peter (GE). Nicolas Gillard succeeds Edgar Philippin as the repre-sentative for Lausanne/Sion.
Tiziano Sabbioni took up his role as COO. He previously held senior positions at the innovation workshop Creaholic and will drive the firm’s further development in the AI era with his entrepreneurial mindset and experience in digitalisation.
