Spitäler Schaffhausen secures CHF 160 million financing for development

Kellerhals Carrard advised Spitäler Schaffhausen (as borrower) on a customized financing transaction including a subordinated credit agreement of CHF 60 million with the Canton Schaffhausen and a credit facility agreement of CHF 100 million with a banking syndicate led by Zürcher Kantonalbank as Agent. The credit facilities can be drawn in stages.
The voters of the Canton of Schaffhausen had already approved the cantonal credit for the development of the cantonal hospital in a popular vote in 2025 with a vast majority. The transaction allows Spitäler Schaffhausen to finance the renewal and development of its hospital facilities.
The Kellerhals Carrard team consisted of Luca Bianchi (Partner, Banking & Finance), Kevin MacCabe (Senior Associate, Banking & Finance), Angelica Schwarz (Partner, Tax), Christoph Jäger (Partner, Construction and Real Estate) and Thomas Geiger (Counsel, Public Sector).
