For large real estate owners and insurance teams, physical risk is no longer an abstract ESG line item. It shapes premiums, influences valuations and increasingly drives capital allocation decisions.
ScyAI, a Zurich-based risk intelligence startup, is building the infrastructure layer for that shift. Its platform translates complex hazard and climate data into granular, asset-level risk intelligence — structured, auditable and embedded directly into underwriting and portfolio decision workflows.
No generic regional averages. No static reports gathering dust. But location-specific, decision-grade data that can actually be negotiated, insured and managed. Premiums decrease (up to 30-50% according to early adopters) while risk coverage increases.
ScyAI just reeled in an early €2 million financing to further develop its technology and scale across Europe. The round was led by AENU and PT1, with participation from leading angels including David Helgason (Unity), Maex Ament, Philip Stehlik (Taulia, Centrifuge) via Anti Ordinary Ventures, as well as Bela N. Lainck, Robert Levenhagen, Christoph Aufmhoff and Stefanie Gerhart via better ventures.

ScyAI was founded in 2025 by an insurance and risk tech team that understands this market from the inside out. CEO Bernhard Rannegger spent six years at Swiss Re in tech and product management, developing AI-driven risk models and helping build a joint venture with Palantir that scaled to 50+ enterprise customers — including Siemens, Petronas and Maersk. As Head of Risk and Insurance AI, Alex Sidorenko brings 20+ years of experience in risk and insurance management, including roles at Deloitte, PwC and EuroChem, most recently serving as Group Head of Insurance & Risk at Serra Verde.
